DBL Ceramic Tiles Manufacturing Procedure [5 Steps]

DBL Ceramics follows 5 steps to produce tiles in their factory. Each piece of tile has to go through the highest quality control protocols.

Here is an overview of the entire process:

Step 1: Gather raw materials

Usually, the manufacturer uses clay to start the process. The color of the tile would depend on the clay they use. The additional requirements are talc, dolomite, sand, calcite, feldspar, etc.

DBL ceramics sources the best quality materials from countries like Italy, Malaysia, China, Spain, Thailand, and India. After collecting the raw materials, they refine them in their factory.

Step 2: Mix and form

With a high-precision mixer, raw materials are mixed in proper proportions. Once the mixing is done, the next process starts.

Now, this mixture is put into a storage tank. In this procedure, they add water and ceramic pallets. The liquidy mixture that finally comes out is known as "slurry."

Next, they keep the slurry in a large tank for some time and move it to an atomizer. The atomizer sprays this slurry on the middle parts, and the hot air makes it turn airborne. Soon, this turns into an atomized process.

The atomized powder is given off with a specific amount in a trial. Then the powder is turned into a mold with a hydraulics force of 300-400kg/cm2. Next, the mold is given a shape and dried up.

Step 3: Glaze the product

The tiles get an artistic quality and traits through screening and glazing. This step helps to maintain hygiene. Also, manufacturers can process this step with roller screens, which help design and color tiles.

After several tests, this formulation is confirmed. The manufacturer requires to check the quality, design, and color. Additionally, The glazing process is a process to get a glass-like texture on the tiles, which they get through dry glazing, screening spray, waterfall, etc.

Step 4: Firing the product

After glazing tiles, the manufacturer starts firing the tiles. DBL uses the most efficient and famous firing process in this process: the Roller Hearth Kiln.

With the heat efficiency, the temperature stays uniform in this process. Also, the maximum temperature it reaches is about 1190 degrees celsius.

Step 5: Check the quality

Finally, the manufacturer checks the quality to detect imperfections. Later, the tiles get sorted based on the caliber, shades, and quality.
